It costs more than some alternatives upfront. Here is a frank look at when woodgrain aluminium is genuinely worth the spend - and when it is not.
When it is worth it
If you want a timber look that stays put with almost no maintenance, if you are on bushfire-prone land where timber is restricted, or if you are near the coast where timber greys fast and steel rusts - aluminium earns its premium clearly.
When it might not be
If you actively want timber to silver and patina, or you are cladding a sheltered, low-exposure wall on the tightest possible budget, cheaper materials can make more sense. We would rather tell you that than oversell.
The lifetime-cost lens
The fairest comparison is over fifteen to twenty years. Timber's recoating, repairs and eventual replacement usually close the gap with aluminium and often reverse it - but that depends on how exposed your facade is and how diligent you are with upkeep.
