Low maintenance is a selling point, but it is not no maintenance. Here is exactly what keeping woodgrain aluminium looking sharp involves.

The basic wash

A wash with mild detergent and water once or twice a year removes dust, pollen and grime. A soft brush or cloth and a hose is all it takes - no pressure washer needed, and definitely no harsh solvents that could harm the finish.

Coastal homes: rinse the salt

Within a few hundred metres of the surf, a periodic fresh-water rinse clears salt build-up before it can dull the finish. More exposed elevations benefit from a more frequent rinse.

Dealing with marks

Most marks lift with detergent. Because the grain is sublimated into the coating, minor scuffs do not expose a contrasting layer, but avoid abrasive pads that could scratch the surface sheen.

That really is it

There is no oiling, sanding, staining or repainting in the schedule. The whole annual commitment is a wash - which is the entire point of choosing aluminium over timber.
