A non-combustible material does not ignite, burn or release flammable vapours when subjected to fire, as assessed under AS 1530.1. Aluminium and steel substrates fall into this category; timber, PVC and polyethylene cores do not.
Specifying a non-combustible substrate is central to satisfying combustibility requirements on bushfire-prone land and on many multi-residential and commercial buildings.
