A practical look at what drives the price of woodgrain aluminium cladding in AUD, and how it compares over a building's life.
Priced per square metre
Cladding is generally quoted in AUD per square metre. The rate depends on the profile, the finish, the quantity and the complexity of your facade. Battens and screens are often quoted by the lineal or square metre depending on configuration.
What moves the price
Premium dark and figured finishes can sit above the standard range; large, simple elevations are more economical per square metre than small, detailed ones with lots of cuts and trims. Trims, gates and made-to-measure screens add to the base material cost.
Compare the whole-of-life cost
Up front, quality woodgrain aluminium is comparable to good hardwood cladding. The real saving is over time: no oiling every few years, no repairs to split boards, and no replacement of rotted sections. Timber's recurring costs add up; aluminium's do not.
